Wildlife Experiences at the Sanctuary, Aviary, and Flamingo Cay

Experience Bahamian sea turtles, nurse sharks, stingrays, flamingos, and other tropical birds. Sanctuary staff answer your questions during feeding times daily at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Hand-on wildlife encounters are available for a fee.

Kids ages three to 12 years learn about Bahamian culture, biodiversity, and conservation through games, crafts, and wildlife interaction. Each day highlights an aspect of the Sanctuary, such as visiting the sea turtles or stick-feeding exotic birds.

The largest casino in the Bahamas offers 1,100 of the latest slot machines and more than 100 live tables featuring blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette, and more. You can also wager and watch from a diverse betting menu of sports.

Explore a three-dimensional world you cannot enjoy while snorkeling. You breathe through a simple-touse regulator while your air supply floats on a comforting support raft at the surface. Even if you have never snorkeled, learning to SNUBA is easy and does not require any certification or previous experience. A great way for certified divers to introduce partners and family members to our underwater world.

Guests will be transferred from the hotel to the docks, where they will board a race boat for a fast speed, thrilling ride. On the first stop at Allan’s Cay, our island version of Jurassic Park, you will visit the iguanas and hear an interesting talk about these ancient creatures. Our next stop is the beautiful Ship Channel Cays, where you can spend most of the day at a protected and tranquil lagoon relaxing on the powdery sand beach. While on the island, you can feed stingrays in ankle-deep water and, if the tide is right, you may be able to feed sharks by hand.

Learn how to sort, clean, store, and roll a cigar—at the Graycliff Cigar Company, you can become a torcedor in a few hours. The demonstration begins with the history of tobacco, where the best leaves come from, and why you blend certain leaves together to make the award winning Graycliff cigars. Once you’ve become a connoisseur, you’ll sample a variety of world-renowned rums as well as local varieties.

Enter the world of chocolate for a fully interactive experience from roasting beans to creating scrumptious confections. The Graycliff Chocolatier begins the journey with the surprising history of chocolate and its new Bahamas home, then traces the provenance of regional cocoa beans and the importance of promoting fair trade and organic farming. Exploring the factory, see how cocoa beans become delectable candy and get hands-on as these gems are roasted and ground into cocoa powder, mixed into liquid chocolate then poured into sculpted molds. Finally, you will taste the finest chocolate from white and milk to the richest levels of dark. All creations are packaged in a Graycliff Chocolatier box and presented with a Certificate of Completion as a souvenir.

Graycliff Restaurant, one of the first five-star restaurants to open in all the Caribbean, mixes Bahamian specialties with European Cuisine. At the wine luncheon, guests are welcomed with a glass of champagne and led by Graycliff’s Master Sommelier on a tour of the hotel and the restaurant’s acclaimed wine collection. The cellar houses some fine and rare wines, with over 250,000 bottles from 400 vintners, acquired over decades by Enrico Garzaroli, the establishment’s Chairman and CEO. The wine luncheon guests are treated to a four-course, gourmet repast paired with the appropriate wines.

Blue Lagoon Island Experience

Guests will depart the Grand Hyatt for the Ferry Terminal Docks on Paradise Island, boarding a ferry for a 25-minute transfer to Blue Lagoon Island, one of the most popular natural attractions in the Bahamas. This private tropical island has breathtakingly clear turquoise water, pristine white sandy beaches, tropical birds, and natural coral reefs. While on the island you can swim in the lagoon, splash around in the inflatable water park, or rent a kayak for more adventurous exploration. Blue Lagoon Island is also home to dolphins, sea lions, stingrays, and nurse sharks. You are welcome to visit the marine park to see all these animals in their natural marine habitat.

Our certified animal trainers will teach you about the natural history of the gentle Southern Stingray in a fun, dockside briefing. The world’s friendliest and most agile marine mammals enjoy close encounters with their clumsier human friends. Guests are invited to stand on a shallow water platform and meet a dolphin in waist-deep water for approximately 10-15 minutes out of a one-hour program. Interaction includes pet and feed session with the dolphins. Guests may take pictures and ask questions during the entire program. Lunch is included.

Swim with Dolphins on Blue Lagoon Island*

This extraordinary tour includes a lecture and interaction with one or more dolphins in water too deep to stand in. Interactions include a pet and feed session, a kiss from a dolphin, dancing with a dolphin, having a dolphin jump over you, and finish with a “foot push” across the water. The program time is approximately 30 minutes in length.

Travel Tips

Check with your airline carrier regarding any COVID-19 protocols

The night before your flight, check your airline APP or online for any schedule changes. Check again in the morning to confirm your flight times. If you wish, you can check-in and print your boarding pass online 24-hrs. prior to departure. At the airport, be sure your luggage is tagged with the program luggage tags and checked all the way to the final airport. Be sure to arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to your flight time for international travel.

Don’t forget your passport! Visit www.tsa.gov for up-to-the-minute travel information, including the current list of permitted carry-on items.

Please use the luggage tags provided to help Event Staff locate and move your luggage. Be certain to check with your airline carrier for their specific weight limitations. Fees for checked and overweight luggage are the responsibility of the individual traveler.

All United States citizens are required to have a valid passport for travel into the Bahamas. Your passport must be valid for six months after your departure date, so it should not expire prior to July 2023. Remember to keep your passport with you and to bring it for check in and boarding at the airport. We recommend that you photocopy the relevant pages of your passport and keep the copies in a safe place separate from the original.

The official currency in the Bahamas is the Bahamian Dollar which is the same equivalent as the US Dollar. The US Dollar is accepted everywhere in the Bahamas, you do not need to exchange money.

Electrical current in The Bahamas is 120v, which is the same as the United States.

The average temperature in January is 78-80 °F in the daytime and 67 °F in the evening.

Strolling in the Bahamas, as in any other Island city, requires some precaution. Some practical suggestions include avoid wearing luxurious wristwatches and jewelry. Carry only a photocopy of your passport. Carry small denominations of money to pay for small purchases.
